The car pulled into town passed the train station that had become a collapsed tangle of wooden planks. The only footprint showing the railroad was ever there was the built up pathway between two ponds where the tracks were laid. A handful of surviving buildings had been gathered into an outdoor museum. Grandma volunteered at the renovated schoolhouse cafe. She prepared a meal for Amanda.
